Los Angeles County voters approved a 0.5% sales and use tax which will take effect July 1, 2009. The tax rate within Los Angeles County will increase from 9.25% to 9.75%. Five cities within Los Angeles County will also have a 0.5% tax increase. Avalon City, El Monte, and Inglewood will increase to 10.25%. Pico Rivera and South Gate will increase to 10.75%.
